BASIC PROJECT FOR THE RAS DJINET COMBINED CYCLE POWER STATION COOLING CIRCUIT, ALGERIA

UNDERWATER PIPELINES

  • Start Date / End Date: 2011
  • Place: DOUAR MENDIL (ARGELIA)
  • Scope: Basic Tender Project
  • Description:

The Basic Project was prepared for the Ras Djinet combined cycle power station cooling system. The pump station, intake pipelines and discharge canal were pre-sized.

The characteristics of the submarine outfall are as follows:

        •    Material: PE100.
        •    Inside diameter: Three 2,400 mm pipes (1 as a reserve)
        •    Average length of polyethylene: 1,496 m
        •    Flow rate: 10 m3/s
        •    Discharge canal outfall

The first step was to use available studies to estimate the intake depth required to collect water at a temperature that would guarantee the proper system cooling. Once the depth was defined, the cooling system was sized.
